Live Updates of Punjab Budget 2015-16
LAHORE (Web Desk Punjab Budget 2015-16 Live Update) – The Punjab government will present its annual budget for the fiscal year 2015-16 in the Provincial Assembly today (Friday) with an estimated outlay of Rs 1154.
According to sources, the provincial government is likely to allocate Rs 402 billion for development programme while an amount of Rs 53 billion is likely to be earmarked for the education sector. Health sector will be given Rs 45 billion.
The government employees are expected to get 10% salary raise.
A sum of Rs 5.60 billion is likely to be allocated for sports and youth affairs in the budget and Rs 2 billion special programme will be announced for disabled people.
Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana summoned the provincial assembly’s 15th session on last Monday which is in progress and it would continue till end of the current month.
Over Rs.400 billion will be apportioned for the development projects. Meantime, 36 percent of the development budget will be set aside for uplift projects in South Punjab,
She is also presenting supplementary budget statement for outgoing financial year.
This is eighth consecutive budget of the PML-N’s provincial government.
Earlier, the Punjab Cabinet has approved the budget proposals for the next fiscal year at a meeting held in Lahore with Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in the Chair.
The Chief Minister said the government will allocated ample funds in the budget for development of all areas of the province. He said focus has been laid on health, education, energy, clean drinking water and construction of roads in rural areas.
According to the yet-known figures, Rs20b have been allocated for flood affected people of Punjab, while Rs17b have been assigned for Multan Metro.
Rs 930 million have been earmarked for the promotion of tourism.
A project of Rs 70 billion has been announced for safe drinking water.
Rs 50 billion 85 crore have been allocated for the irrigation department.
RAISE IN SALARIES
Salaries for government employees have been raised by 7.5 percent.
Minimum wage increased from Rs 12,000 to 13,000.
QUOTA FOR WOMEN
15% quota for women employees in terms of salaries increase has been reserved.
Rs 2.17 billion have been allocated for natural resources.
APNA ROZGAR SCHEME
At least 50,000 vehicles to be given under Apna Rozgar Scheme.
It is also being stated that Rs. 35 billion likely to be set aside for improving the conditions of the provincial government’s education centres.
